Unfortunately, both the transition from the [[Little Mermaid]] scene to the [[Lion King]] scene, and the entire Lion King sequence, completely suck. The Lion King sequence just doesn't make any sense given the grand scheme of the film, and I think it could have been filmed a lot better and integrated much more smoothly.

Description

Mickey's PhilharMagic is a 3-D movie featuring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and a host of other characters from Disney animated features.

Entrance

The entrance to Mickey's PhilHarmonic is located in FantasyLand, and is next door to Peter Pan's Flight and across from Cinderella's Golden Carousel. There is only one line for this show.

Just inside the main door, there is a greeting sign. If you look at the back of this sign you will see that it is a picture of the back of Mickey.

Line

The line starts outside, and leads inside to a staging area. There are posters on the walls depicting supposed coming attractions at the theatre, so be sure to check them out as well. When entering the staging area, you will also have the opportunity to grab some 3-D glasses. Do so, otherwise the film is going to look a bit odd.

Riding the Ride

Well, there really isn't a ride, as such. It is a movie, so you sit down and watch.

Before the movie starts, there is a voice over from Goofy explaining that it is time to put on the 3-D glasses. The lights then go down.

The movie depicts Mickey getting ready to conduct the Disney PhilharMagic orchestra, but things seem to be running a little bit late, so he asks Donald to get things set up on stage. Donald does so, but finds Mickey's magic hat from Fantasia. He puts it on, and chaos ensues. At the end of the movie, Donald is shown flying out of the screen, so be sure to turn around and look at the back of the theatre for a glimpse of where Donald has gone.

This is one of the first movies to use smells to give a wider sense of the movie. The smell of a pie is blown on you at one point in the film.

Exiting the Ride

You exit the ride out the other side of the theatre. There are bins at the exit to deposit your 3-D glasses. Be sure to deposit them here, as they are not meant to be worn as sun glasses, and cast members that see you wearing them anywhere else in the park will confiscate them.

Opinion

This is a fun ride (OK, it's a show, whatever). All of the classic elements are shown here, and getting to see all of the different characters from various Disney movies in addition to hearing the songs from all of those different features is a treat. Just be ready to get a bit wet.

Unfortunately, both the transition from the Little Mermaid scene to the Lion King scene, and the entire Lion King sequence, completely suck. The Lion King sequence just doesn't make any sense given the grand scheme of the film, and I think it could have been filmed a lot better and integrated much more smoothly.
