Mickey Mouse was originally named Mortimer Mouse, but Lillian Disney said it was too pompous and suggested Mickey.
When it came time to film Fantasia, Mickey was reborn with a rounder appearance and eyeballs instead of simple black dots for his eyes. Fred Moore was the animator responsible for this.
