Decor

Food

The food here is based on standard English countryside dishes, centering on the equestrian dishes you would find if you were a proper English rider hunting hounds.

Appetizers

Mussels - While the mussels were quite nice, they were absolutely drowned in a butter sauce. The mussels also had what appeared to be Provalone cheese slices scattered on top. Which the cheese added an interesting flavor to the mix, the excessive butter detracted from it entirely too much. At least two slices of garlic toast were also provided to sop up some of the butter, but even with that there was still a good inch of butter sauce left in the bottom of the dish. Also, there appears to be a bit of a quality control issue with the kitchen as there was one mussel in the batch that looked quite bad. Having suffered from a bad bout of food poisoning in the past month, I shied away from it. One other thing this dish has going for it is that the quantity of mussels given is large, to the point where you can order this appetizer and use it simply as the main course.

Soups

Tomato soup with bacon - An interesting flavor here, but not one that I am particularly fond of. I have found that I am not a fan of bacon flavoring in foods, unless the food happens to be bacon, all alone in its' glory. As such, I found the bacon taste in this soup to be overpowering.

Specials

Grilled Pork Loin brazed in apple cider - With this dish is also served a vegetable medley and a choice of another side. I went with the mashed potatoes. The potatoes were excellent, with just the right sweetness to complement the pork loin. The pork loin I found to be a bit dry, but I do not blame this on it being over cooked. I think that the dish just needs a slightly fattier piece of pork to work well with everything else. The vegetable medley was a standard affair, no real surprises in it.
