Description

Splash Mountain is a log ride in which you float through a series of scenes featuring Brer Rabbit and his adventures, along with scenes from The Song of the South. Along the way, you are subjected to multiple drops, with a final drop of over five stories.

Entrance

The entrance to the ride is underneath the entrance to the Walt Disney World Railroad. There are two entrances, one for normal riders and one for those with FastPass tickets.

Line

As you wind your way through the line, eventually you will climb upstairs. At one point there is a view of the Walt Disney World Railroad, which is also the point where the FastPass line and the normal line merges. After this you will see a couple of paintings on the wall of Brer Rabbit and his friends, and then you can get on the ride.

Riding the Ride

The ride is in a hollowed-out log with bench seats. There are four bench seats in each log, each able to accomodate either two normal sized adults or three children. The wettest seats tend to be the front due to splash over. For a wetter ride, heavier people should sit up front.

Once everyone is seated, the log is sent off up a moving ramp to the first of a number of scenes depicting Brer Rabbit and his adventures outwitting Brer Fox and Brer Bear. There are a number of different drops throughout the ride, culminating in a drop that is five stories high and passes underneath a bridge where on-lookers can watch. Just past the peak of this final drop there is also a camera which is set to take your photo when you pass by. Photos can then be viewed and purchased after you exit the ride.

Exiting the Ride

You exit at the same place that you get onto the ride, and you are then sent through a small tunnel into a giftshop, where you can also view the pictures of yourself and others as they go down the largest drop.

Opinion

This is a fun ride. I have ridden it many times, and it never seems to get old for me. You don't get all that wet unless you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, which has happened to me occasionally. But then, it is only water. You will dry out.

Experiences

14 January 2007

For this weekend the ride was closed for renovation work. The water had been drained and you could see the bottom of the channels.
