On the main drag at the front of the park, there is a shop whose name is not really disclosed, but the sign outside features a large watch keeping time, and the watch is a classical Mickey Mouse watch.

In the same area, pay attention for other signs, such as the antique stop light directing traffic where the road splits. The traffic light is the old type where it had swing gates to tell you to stop or go instead of red/amber/green lights. This area is also a common place to see some street shows that occur throughout the day.

Ambient Music

Ambient music playing at MGM Studios has a movie theme, which is wholly appropriate for the setting. Some of the songs that you will hear as you walk around the park are:

Went to MGM in the evening specifically to view the Little Mermaid show, as my mother had not seen it yet. We did that, and she was suitably impressed with it, then we went and saw the Great Movie Ride again, because she seemed to think that she had never been on it. Of course, once we were seated on the ride, it managed to break down and all of the ride attendants were going a bit berserk trying to fix the ride and also keep everyone both calm and entertained. Some of them started asking trivia questions about the parks. Finally Kaitlyn announced that things were ready to go and we were off. Once we actually got rolling my mother realized that she had in fact been on the ride.

Just went around for a couple of hours. One thing that annoyed me was that the Turkey Leg stand was out of turkey legs. This is just not a good thing, but even more surprising was how they were handling it. There was no notice or anything about it, they would just tell people as they got to the front of the line that they were out of turkey legs. Why bother calling it the Toluca Legs Turkey Company if you don't have any turkey legs to sell? If they are out of legs, they should just close the place temporarily and put a sign up stating they are out.

I took the bus from Shades of Green to get to MGM, and upon exiting the bus the first thing that struck me was that they were flying the American flag at half mast out of respect for the recent passing of President Gerald Ford. As I started to walk through the park, I noticed that there are park benches to sit on everywhere you look.

The Christmas Lights Parade is no longer running, though some of the lights are still up. Apparently the process for getting the lights down is somewhere in the months long range. I got this information from one of the security personnel there named Sally.
